About the National Black Prosecutors Foundation
Founded in 1983, the National Black Prosecutors Association (NBPA) is the only organization dedicated to the hiring, retention, and promotion of Black prosecutors. In 2016, the NBPA expanded its mission by creating a 501(c)(3) foundation to support the next generation of law students passionate about pursuing a career in public service.
The National Black Prosecutors Foundation (NBPF) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization. The NBPF provides scholarships to law students who meet academic criteria, along with a demonstrated interest in a career in prosecution.
The NBPA Foundation also funds a fellowship for law school interns at prosecutors’ offices across the country. In recognizing the financial hardships that prevent some students from securing unpaid internships, the NBPF Fellowship allows students to explore a career in prosecution. Through its fellowship program the NBPF partners with local and state prosecuting offices and law schools to place eligible students in competitive 8 – 10-week internship programs across the country.
