Fellowship Description:

To strengthen the pipeline of prosecutors across the nation, the NBPF, a 501(c)(3) organization, has established a Fellowship Program. The goal of the program is to promote diversity in prosecutors’ offices by building a pipeline of law students entering a career in prosecution. The program is targeted towards law students, entering their third year of law school, who have a demonstrated interest in pursuing a career in criminal prosecution.

The NBPF Fellowship Program provides placement and financial assistance in the amount of $5,000 to law students interested in participating in a non-paid internship at a prosecutor’s office. In 2021, the NBPF launched its inaugural class and partnered with local and state prosecuting offices and law schools to recruit and place eligible students in competitive 8 – 10-week summer internship programs across the country.

Note: The fellowship program is limited to local and state prosecutor internships only. Internships at federal prosecuting offices do not qualify.

Qualifications

• Must be a rising 3L;
• Must have bar clearance to practice in court under the supervision of a licensed attorney;
• Must have a demonstrated interest in a career in prosecution; and
• Must be an active law student member of the NBPA.

• Criminal Procedure
• Evidence
• Skills based courses such as: trial advocacy, negotiations, interviewing, etc.
