NBPA Special Victims Symposium
Formerly known as the Domestic Violence & Sexual Assault Forum, the Special Victims Symposium reflects our commitment to addressing the full spectrum of crimes that disproportionately impact vulnerable populations, particularly the disproportionate victimization of and amongst the Black community. While our initial focus was on domestic violence and sexual assault, we have expanded to include human trafficking, child abuse, elder abuse, animal cruelty, and other forms of victimization. This evolution was driven by the growing recognition that these crimes are often interconnected and require a multidisciplinary approach to prevention, investigation, and prosecution.
Held annually as a one-day event during our larger week-long national conference, the Special Victims Symposium brings together experts, practitioners, and advocates to discuss the latest trends, challenges, and best practices in serving special victim populations. By broadening our scope, we aim to provide attendees with a more comprehensive understanding of these complex issues and the tools needed to seek justice for all victims.
